Aki Mooney and Van Sick improvised a prepared piano album 

in 2009. With nails, foil and broken fingers, at the same time 

and in pairs. The recorded, unprocessed pieces were limited 

to 5 minutes. It may sound a little antiquated, but it still 

reminds you of having a chat with John Cage.

Mooney & Nort - Schattenmann EP [AM12]

In 2014, Mooney and Nort connected some of their analog and
digital devices to generate this fantasic trippy short-player with
some interludes made from glitched youtube sources.
The result is an unmistakeable spooky drone scenario out of
this world.

Aki Mooney - The Great Northern Oscillations [AM17.5]

(An ovation to the sounds of David Lynch 
& The Twin Peaks TV-Series (1990-2017)
6 meditations for varying moods with the 
explicit use of the original tv-series 
sound-material.)

When the series Twin Peaks was broadcast on RTLplus in 1991, 
Aki Mooney sat with his mother in front of the TV and watched 
the first episodes with excitement. At that time Mooney was not 
really aware of the musical background of the series. 
Nevertheless, the mysterious sounds dug into his subconscious mind. 
A long time passed. In 2010 then, Mooney looked at the whole 
material of the series again. He immediately fell into the soundtrack 
and the Magic of the sounds of this story. Lynch and Badalamenti 
had created an incomparable atmosphere and already influenced 
some musicians in their work. For Mooney, a completely new situation 
emerged in 2017, when the sequel to Twin Peaks "The Return" 
was released. It came to the question how an individual interpretation 
could be possible at all. The most meaningful concept to create an 
Aki Mooney interpretation was the concentration on the sounds 
and the noises between the actual music of the series.

With carefully selected original cut-outs and additional 
composed sounds, Mooney succeeded in creating a verified 
composition, which became part of the œuvre of the lynch universe.

These collagé-like productions cooperate with the characters and 
impressions of the series at the highest level. They create a personal 
experience of a dream in us, that the inventors of this great series have led.

☛ NEWS 2017 +++ TWO NEW ALBUMS !

⚗ → Endlich… . News from the MooneyLab™for 2017.
⇩First one is a new artistic & conceptual masterpiece from
Mooney and Nort, where they experimenting with the most
worst “music” ever pressed on vinyl. So the decision was to
called it « Dino Latino & Gangster Toni – Nonstop Ecstasy »
It’s non-music for very experienced sound-nerds and
vapor-lovers. It’s a more radical concept than just the regular
“avantgardish–ambientious–what-is-everybody-doing-today-
and-called-it-experimental” stuff. A very naughty piece of
contemporary composition with a proper twist on weird satire.
We expect to release it in march 2017.
⍗ The second album will be released as a Kompaktkassette.
It’s the very first collaboration between Mooney and his old
brother in crime Marc “Elvis” Kulicke.
→ The album will be called « Onkel – Träume der Jugend » 
What they done on this recordings it’s a bit hard to describe
in any words known. As a sequel to the Dino Latino &
Gangster Toni album, it'll maybe the most confusing and
disturbing non-musical collagé every made in this studio.
As far as we could give it an explanation, it collects a
dadaistic feeling of ideas about human absurdities on
capitalism and the desires about artistic freedom in
many ways of working with strange audio-material.
We expect this to come out in late spring 2017.

New Recordings / New Scenes

After some conceptual preparations and research,
i decided to create a fresh upcoming EP out of
mooney-vision.
After the last album was developed with a lot of
pre-recorded material, i will take it more serious
on playing live and directly from the source.
Also reconstruced ideas from obscene stuff, like
yodeling or country-blues-recompositions tuned
out with psycedelic instrumentations.

The artwork (work in progress) is provided by
jazzgrafik.

The next conceptual work by Aki Mooney & Falk Nort is called:
« Mit der Kutsche durch die Hölle » which means like a cabbage-trip
trough hell…
Anyway, the idea was simple, like the simplicity of art nowadays (smiley).
We streamed youtube-videos together and manipulated the sound-sources
through various hardware. The result is more precisely an unusual way
of composing audio-collagés trough an unconsciously way of layering.

NEW AKI MOONEY ALBUM 2015

 
Hello sound–fetishists! 

After my long long disappearance with fresh composed material
and a wide-range of research-studies, i can announce a new decade
of mooney-vision. At the moment i’m in the studio with MTM,
we're we programmed 2 pieces together and also finishing his
new album, scheduled for early 2015.
As a result of these complex compositions, i decided to carry
that spirit into a new Aki Mooney album, wherefore i got so
many recordings in the pre-production from 2012 to 2013.
As you may know a Mooney album is not just an arty ambience
piece of music, it's a long journey into the vast territories in
sound, composition, layering, sampling and recording.
It took me years of finding and exploring so many sources
of digestable material, that i'm now becoming sure what
i really wanted to do next.
As always, be prepared and let's have a good start on
fresh composings!

Aki & Chris shared an exclusive evening together and

voice talk to the stars) and percussive free-drumming at all.

The good ol’ videoart comes back into the mind.
In the 80ties and 90ties, multimedia-art was big
and of course analogue as well.
Today, it’s a kind of strange why there is so less
mixture about music and video-art.
We speak of non-high-definition-video (NHDV®),
were the content is more important
than the look. So the objects or movements,
are converted by failures or glitches made from
transposition and layer-techniques.

are doing…
We just connected our digital and analogue devices together,
and jammed up without a case. After compiling these live-takes,
the result came up very creepy and horrible. So, this is not for
softies and harmony-lovers.

Finally it's done. Here is the first teamwork by Aki and Zængá,
produced from 2010 to early 2011, with the finishing supervision
by Aki in 2013. Artwork provided by Random-Id™ in 2012.
So, this album in it’s way was developed over 3 years and a lot
of editing and re-listening again and again.
Short & intensive in all kinds of sound and programming,
well treated and composed as a classical avantgarde
electronic concept.

Lost in a proposal — The commodities of the future

If future could be transposed to the happenings of todays
composition, we could easily progress with an automatic
concept of an application doing the musicians work on it's own.
So i really promised myself to wait for a sudden inspiration
coming from any point of thoughts i give on composed musical
structures. When i browsed the archive lately i discovered so
many possibilities of combining any interesting soundmix or
unexpected interplay i could start from to a further arrangement
i'm get confident with. But every attempt flushes into distraction.
Why? How could we form new structures of thinking in an unusual
way of making sound? It's quite impossible when you not going
away from these typical approaches when a musicians getting ready
to compose.
So, whats my job? The first thing is definetly striking new ideas
from extraordinary sources of media or the possibility of recording
sequences of the human-being itself; And of course taking away all
the straight lines of the common approaches.
Now, after the winter is coming and warm cosy nights of productions
will follow, i hope for myself and for my listeners i could create
what’ve gained so much on thinking about a total different way
of medial and acoustic creation to suprise myself.

Zængá – Works for Radios and Satellities [AM13]

When Zængá got an old Radio with the age of 16, he had
at lot of fun to play with it. The good old bandwidth from the
world wide radio network MW, LW, UKW was full of interesting
analogue noises, freaky glitches and spoken errors from all
languages and broadcasting-artefacts.

Sadly, today these opportunities are gone for lousy digital transmissions.
In 2002 he digged out that cassette from the archive and decided
to make an compilation of these recordings.
Some edits and Fm sounds were added and voilá, it was ready!
Finally in 2013, Aki Mooney & Zængá made a bit mastering and
compiled it for digital use.

It’s not an ambient or basically "experimental" work,
but it’s like a little historial proof of Zængá's way to sound and music.
These 36 pieces could easily accompany an art installation, theatre or
for a further convertible use on new productions.
